Mimiko’s success traceable to PDP– Party chair

The Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State has said the party is
bigger than individuals who have defected from it to opposition
parties. It said those that defected from the party usually left with
political qualities the PDP had instilled in them.

The party said the Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, and the
former Ogun State Governor, Gbenga Daniel, owed their political
success to the PDP.

In an interview with our correspondent, the Chairman, PDP, Ogun State,
Adebayo Dayo, pointed out that the Labour Party in the state would
fail like it did in the Anambra State governorship election.

While describing Mimiko as "a PDP man," he said the governor gathered
his governance experience from the PDP while he was in the party.

"He went to LP in annoyance and his people knew he was cheated, that
was why they voted for him. He got all his knowledge from the PDP. If
you place the PDP and the All Progressives Congress before him, he
will prefer the PDP anyday, anytime.

"We do not have any PDP man elsewhere aside Mimiko. He is the only PDP
man that has gone elsewhere and is loved by his people," Dayo said.

Dayo said Daniel and those who defected from the PDP were not bigger
than the party.

He described the PDP as a national party, which everybody wanted to
belong to. He said their departure had no consequence for the party in
the 2015 elections.

Dayo said, "A single individual cannot jump up. It was the PDP that
made Daniel and gave him a good name. It was the party that made him
relevant in Nigerian politics. If he wants to continue to be relevant,
he will stay in the PDP. Otherwise, he can go to any other mushroom
party where his name will not be heard.

"Daniel was loved up to a certain stage but as of today, he knows that
most of his confidants are back in the PDP. And the party is one in
Ogun State
