113 Nigerian deportees from S’Arabia arrive Abuja

One hundred and thirteen Nigerians deported fromSaudi Arabiaarrived
theNnamdiAzikiweInternationalAirport,Abuja, on Thursday.

The deportees, who were the second batch of the 508 Nigerians
approved for repatriation by the Federal Government, were flown into
the country by an Ethiopian Airline aircraft.

Our correspondent gathered that the Nigerians landed at the NAIA at
about12.30pm.

A senior official of the National Emergency Management Agency said the
deportees would be sent to their respective State Emergency Management
Agencies for due clearance.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not
authorised to speak on the subject, said, "They (deportees) were 113
in number. They will be cleared at their respective SEMAs before they
are allowed to proceed to their states or wherever they wish to go.

"The number is not complete yet and more of them are still coming.
Remember that these 508 deportees are those who voluntarily decided to
return and the Federal Government approved their repatriation. About
951 others are under detention inSaudi Arabia."
The first batch of the 508 deportees had arrived the NAIA on
Wednesday. They were 80 in number.
The Assistant Director, Relief and Rehabilitation, NEMA, Mr. Daniel
Obot, had stated that the deportees were residing illegally inSaudi
Arabiaafter which they voluntarily agreed to return.
