Chinese Sailor Attempting World Record Goes Missing In The Pacific (Photos)

A Chinese sailor has gone missing in the Pacific during his attempt to set a record for a solo non-stop crossing of the ocean. According to his support team, Guo last made contact on October 25 at 3pm Beijing time (7am GMT).

Guo set sail on October 19 from San Francisco and had hoped to reach Shanghai in 18 days. He was last heard 900 nautical miles off the west coast of Hawaii. A search craft located the main sail which had broken off the vessel however they could not locate 51-year-old Guo.
The US Navy has sent two search ships to look for any signs of the man.
Guo was hoping to break the record for the quickest journey across the Pacific.
