Bamaiyi, Babalola’s representatives, others to testify against Ajudua

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has lined up at least 13
witnesses that will testify against Mr. Fred Ajudua, who is accused of
defrauding a former Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Ishaya Bamaiyi
(retd.), of $8.395m.

EFCC had on October 14, 2013, filed 13 counts of fraud against Ajudua
before a Lagos High Court, Ikeja. But a scheduled arraignment of the
suspect failed to hold on December 16 due to his absence from court.

Among EFCC's proposed witnesses are Bamaiyi, who is the alleged victim
of the crime, and representatives of the law firm of Chief Afe
Babalola (SAN).

Babalola was among the persons whose names were allegedly used by
Ajudua to defraud Bamaiyi between November 2004 and June 2005.

Other suspects, who were said to have been linked to the crime but
were on the run, are Alumile Adedeji (a.k.a Ade Bendel), Princess
Hamabon William, one Mr. Kenneth as well as one Mr. Jonathan.

EFCC accused Ajudua of fraudulently collecting various sums of money
amounting to $8.395m (N1.2bn) from Bamaiyi between November 2004 and
June 2005 while both of them were remanded in prison for different
alleged crimes.

Other witnesses that will be testifying against Ajuda, according to
EFCC's list of witnesses obtained by our correspondent, included
prison, EFCC and bank officials.
They are DCP Vincet Obi (Nigerian prisons); ACP Abdullahi Garba
(Nigerian prisons); Samuel Bandi, Garba Tagada, Mohammed Abubakar,
Lawal Yaro, Samson Oromose, representatives of Afribank and Vmobile,
Yidi Ibrahim and Johnson Aboki.
A Lagos High Court in Ikeja has fixed February 12, 2014 for the
arraignment of Mr. Fred Ajudua, for fresh charges of defrauding a
former Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Ishaya Bamaiyi (retd.), of about
$8.395m.
