Ogundele, 25, at a Magistrates' Court for allegedly stealing three
bags of rice valued at N25,000, theNews Agency of Nigeriareports.
The prosecutor, Inspector Innocent Uko , told the court that Ogundele,
of No. 17 Ilunla, Aradagun, was facing one count of theft.
Uko alleged that the accused and two others at large, had on December
21, 2013, at Aradagun Bus Stop, committed the offence.
The prosecutor said that the rice belonged to one Mr. Emmanuel Ofoke.
He said that they committed the act while trying to help the owner to
carry the consignment to the bus stop.
Uko said the offence was punishable under the Criminal Code of Lagos
State, 2011.
However, counsel to the accused, Mr. Akoji James, pleaded with the
court to grant his client bail since investigation into the matter was
still ongoing.
James assured the court that his client would not jump bail, adding
that he would always attend the court hearings.
The Magistrate, Mr Abiodun Etti, granted the accused bail for N100,000
with a surety resident in Badagry magisterial district.
Etti adjourned the case to January 28, 2014, for further hearing.
